Merino Wool

Merino wool is a special, high grade of wool that has all the characteristics of classic wool but stands out above the fibers because of it's luxurious softness & comfort provided by the fine diameter Merino fibers. There 16 grades of wool & Cutter Collection selected the highest-grade practical for saddle pad construction. The fibers of this grade have a small diameter & are closer together than other grades. This means that our pads are most efficient at "wicking" or drawing moisture away from the skin.

 CC4444 Extra layer of filler available for an additional $10.

MC513 The Cimarron carries our heaviest blanket, 5.5 lbs, It is for this reason many of our customers use this pad when purchasing one of our six tooling designs. "Cimarron" was a name used to describe any unsettled area of the West. It was also the name given to the dry route from Cimarron, Kansas to Santa Fe. O Bar Ranch Roper Pad

CR500 Cutter Collection has always been hesitant to join the bandwagon of "new technology" because most of these new materials compromise the fact that our Show & Barrel Racing saddle pads are constructed to breathe, to dissipate heat. However, Kemmler Products of Mooreville, NC brought us a product (SHOCKtec Gel) which allowed our pads to breathe and, at the same time, solved that nagging pressure problem at the front of most saddles. Two high impact SHOCKtec Gel pads are sewn inside at the front pressure point. Add to any design or style pad $39.

CB400 The O Bar Brushpopper remains one of our most popular saddle pads. Designed & tested by cowboys for cowboys, the Brushpopper is tough, durable & cleans easily. Tough high quality canvas is sewn to two layers of antimicrobial filler. The Merino wool fleece used on the Brushpopper is the same grade used on our Show & Barrel Racing Pads. The thick, high grade Burgundy Latigo wear leathers run the length of the pad which means the pad can be reversed when necessary. 5 colors, 36x32 $134.

CU403 O Bar Ranch Underpad is for the rider looking for a basic work pad, the underpad is slightly smaller than the Brushpopper and is constructed using the same materials except only one antimicrobial filler is used & there are no wear leathers. Still, the quality materials & construction guarantee the durability of this pad, 5 colors, 32x30 $88.

Rio Concho Metallic is an expansion of the Rio Concho w/ the addition of sparkling metallic threads. New Zealand wool blanket, antimicrobial filler, Merino wool fleece & premium wear leathers. 36x34 $196.

Blanket Cleaning Tips

Beat and brush the blanket:
Every few days, simply slap the blanket against a door, pipe, fence, etc. Then use a soft to medium stiff horse brush (not a metal curry comb), and brush the hair and dander from the blanket. This won’t take more than 5 minutes of your time.

Wash the blanket:
Every 60 to 90 days, wash the blanket in a tub of cold water. For best results, put your blanket in a tub of water and let it soak for a least an hour. Then, as best you can “wring” the blanket in the water, then “wring” it out of the water.


Hang the blanket over a rail:
(like the top rail of a fence), and with a soft to medium brush, lightly brush the blanket on both sides. Let the blanket air dry completely, then slap it against a door or fence until it feels as soft as a brand new one.


NOTE: It is best not to use soap when washing wool blankets. The blanket will retain much of the soap (even soaps made specifically for wool). When the blanket becomes wet with sweat, the residual soap may seep throughout the very porous wool, and irritate a horse’s back.
